During the early part of the Cold War, the Handley Page (HP) Victor formed an essential part of Britain’s nuclear deterrent, carrying out long-range, low-altitude attacks. The aircraft was later transferred to an aerial refuelling role after being deemed ineffective as a strategic bomber.
